Somdev Sen brings over 24 years of extensive experience in the telecommunications industry, having worked with major companies in India such as Airtel, Tata Docomo, and Idea Cellular Limited. With nearly a decade in Africa, he began with Airtel before joining MTN.
In the past seven years at MTN Uganda, Somdev has demonstrated transformative leadership across three key roles. As General Manager of Customer Value Management (CVM), he spearheaded initiatives that greatly enhanced customer engagement and retention. He then transitioned to General Manager of Business Intelligence, where he developed a robust, forward-thinking data insights and reporting framework.
In his previous role as Chief Marketing Officer, Somdev has driven MTN Uganda’s remarkable business growth, doubling the customer base in just six years. His leadership has set benchmarks for MTN Group, with initiatives like Manda Mobile, device financing, and customer value management. He also left behind an energized brand, having championed award-winning campaigns such as “Uganda is Home” and product propositions like “MTN Home of Internet.” Other notable campaigns under his leadership include “Freedom Bundles” and “Together We’re Unstoppable.”
Somdev played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Uganda Cranes sponsorship, with the Afcon qualifiers campaign, “Faaaya,” capturing national attention.
Beyond his business expertise, Somdev is also known for his artistic talent, particularly in photography, where his stunning captures of Uganda’s wildlife and landscapes have inspired many within the company.
