Chantal Umutoni Kagame, Chief Executive Officer, Mobile Money Rwanda Limited

Chantal became the Chief Executive Officer of Mobile Money Rwanda Ltd (MMRL) in April
2021, when it was established a standalone company. Before her appointment as CEO of
MMRL, she was the Chief Business and Corporate Affairs Officer of MTN Rwandacell PLC from
Chantal is a senior Telecom Executive with over 19 years of experience in Multinational
Telecommunications. She has a track record of excellent achievement in the 3 Rwandan Telco
companies in areas of Executive Leadership, Sales and Distribution, Mobile Financial Services,
Strategy Development and Execution, Corporate Affairs and Credit Management.
Prior to joining MTN Rwandacell, Chantal was the Deputy CEO/COO, Tigo Rwanda for 3 years
and Head of Sales, Distribution and Corporate Affairs at the same company from 2011 to 2015.
Chantal holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Kigali Institute of Science and

Adolphe Nahayo, Senior Manager Fintech Operations

Adolphe joined Mobile Money Rwanda Ltd in 2021 as Senior Manager, Fintech Operations. Previously, he was the Head of Finance at MTN Business Kenya while in rotation scheme in 2019.

He has over 18 years’ experience in the Telecom industry and has vast experience in financial and risk management.

Prior to MTN Rwandacell PLC, Adolphe served in the airline industry (Air Rwanda, Alliance Express) since 1997 – 2003.

Christian Mugenzi Kajeneri, Senior Manager, Fintech Strategy, Products and Services

Prior to joining Mobile Money Rwanda Ltd, Christian was the Head of Payments (Digital Channels) at Equity Bank Rwanda PLC, with special focus on Mobile Banking, Internet Banking, eCommerce (MPGS), Remittances, Diaspora banking, Social Projects/ Strategic partnerships among others. 

Prior to this, Christian served with Ericsson AB, MMEA East Africa – Region with MTN as the Customer Unit in Rwanda, Zambia and the kingdom of Eswatini.  

Christian holds a master’s in Business Administration and Leadership from the African Leadership University School of Business and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Telecommunication from the University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology (former Kigali Institute of Science and Technology).

Jean Paul Musugi, Senior Manager, Fintech Commercial & Business Development

Jean Paul Musugi joined Mobile Money Rwanda Ltd in 2021. Prior to this, he served in various managerial positions acquiring extensive experience in digital financial services at MTN Rwandacell PLC from 2009.

He graduated with honors from Oklahoma Christian University (USA) with a dual Master’s degree in Finance and Marketing. He is also an alumni of Digital Frontiers Institute (DFI) certified in Digital Money operations.

Hilary Rangira, Fintech Risk, AML & Compliance Manager

Hilary transferred from MTN Rwandacell PLC to Mobile Money Rwanda Ltd as the Fintech Risk, AML & Compliance Manager in 2021. He joined MTN Rwandacell PLC in March 2018 and became Fintech AML, Risk and Compliance Manager at MTN Rwandacell PLC in April 2020.

Prior to that, Hilary led different projects at MTN Rwanda including AML remediation program, GSMA Mobile Money Certification in 2020, where MTN Rwandacell PLC was the first provider in Rwanda to gain the GSMA Mobile Money Certification.

He is a member of Association for Certified Anti-Money Laundering specialist, with Telecommunication industry Mini MBA from the Telecoms Academy.

Before joining MTN, Hilary served at Tigo Rwanda in different departments and outside the telecom industry, he also worked at Skol brewery ltd.

Solomon Mutsinzi, Fintech Analytics, Budgeting & Reporting Manager

Solomon has been the Fintech Analytics, Budgeting & Reporting Manager at Mobile Money Rwanda Ltd since 2021. He joined MTN Rwandacell in 2016, overseeing Business Analytics and Reporting.

He has expertise in the areas of data analytics and modelling; business intelligence; customer segmentation and value management; reporting and data visualization, business planning/budgeting and forecasting; market analysis and competitive landscaping.

Before joining MTN Rwanda, he worked at the National Institute of Statistics.
