The MTN Foundation’s Education program aims to improve the quality of basic education in Rwanda, through interventions that strengthen technology, infrastructure, learning, and creativity in schools. This multi-pronged approach enables a wide array of students and teachers to be supported.
To date, we have primarily invested in secondary (public) schools in rural areas of Rwanda as we believe our expertise, reach and resources enable us to make the greatest impact in this area. In addition to below programs, MTN Foundation has begun to fully support the brilliant but economically disadvantaged students to pursue their university studies.
- ICT School-Connect
Through this program, MTN has built computer labs in all the 30 districts of Rwanda by the provision of laptop computers and internet connectivity to secondary schools.
- Scholarship Program
Since 2012, MTN pays school fees to 100 disadvantaged students with the highest grades in National exams. MTN also pays school fees to children of disabled ex-combatants in partnership with Rwanda Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (RDRC).
- 21 Days of Y’ello Care
Through different CSI functions, MTN involves its employees from 1st – 21st of June to volunteer in social initiatives across the country where we operate.
