The IKOSORA+ smartphone is a dual SIM phone, whereby MTN sim card can be used for all services, VOICE, DATA and SMS. Also, for a customer to be able to use the IKOSORA+ smartphone it is required for the SIM slot 1 area to have the MTN SIM card.

Also, for a customer with an Airtel or Mango SIM card they will only be able to use the MTN IKOSORA+ smartphone ONLY if MTN SIM card is in SIM SLOT 1 and an Airtel SIM card can only be used for Voice.

Customers will be able to buy the IKOSORA+ smartphone bundle through a USSD short code by dialling *345*1*4# and follow the prompts. The customer will be charged RWF 1,000 only on their current balance of airtime.

All interested clients or customers will be able to buy the IKOSORA+ smartphone at any or nearest MTN Service center or Connect shop in their region across the country.

4. In case of damage or internal malfunction, what should a client do? 4. In case of damage or internal malfunction, what should a client do?

In case a customer is faced with an issue of battery, internal damage, or malfunction, please advise customers to take the device to any nearest MTN service centre and connect with proof of ownership of the device and will be served with a replacement. 

However if the damage is caused by the customer, then he/she will cover the costs of repairing the phone

5. Does the IKOSORA+ Smartphone use 3G OR 4G SIM cards? 5. Does the IKOSORA+ Smartphone use 3G OR 4G SIM cards?

The IKOSORA+ Smartphone can be used on both 3G and 4G SIM cards. However, we are encouraging all IKOSORA+ smartphone customers to use 4G SIM cards. Meaning that when a customer approaches a sales point, please advise them to switch to a MTN 4G SIM card by making for them a SIM SWAP. 

6. Is E-SIM applicable in the IKOSORA+ SMARTPHONE? 6.  Is E-SIM applicable in the IKOSORA+ SMARTPHONE?

The E-SIM technology is not applicable to the IKOSORA+ smartphones. 

7. In case a customer purchases voice and data bundles of 1000Rwf twice in the month, will the resources be cumulative? 7.  In case a customer purchases voice and data bundles of 1000Rwf twice in the month, will the resources be cumulative?

Please note that a customer can only buy the IKOSORA+ smartphone bundle once in 30 days/month. Before the 30 days elapse, customers will not be able to buy another Ikosora+ smartphone bundle.  However, customers can purchase the other existing bundles from the existing USDD menu.

No, in case a customer’s phone is stolen or lost, this will not be replaced. However, a customer can purchase another IKOSORA+ smartphone at any MTN service centre or connect shop. 

9. Do IKOSRA+ smartphones have a warranty? 9.  Do IKOSRA+ smartphones have a warranty?

The IKOSORA+ smartphones have a warranty of 12 months only. This warranty covers internal damage and battery. For any other support required a customer can always check with the nearest service center with proof of ownership of the device.

10. Will the Ikosora+ Smartphones be in the MTN Macye Macye program? 10.   Will the Ikosora+ Smartphones be in the MTN Macye Macye program?

For the start all IKOSORA+ smartphones are not in Macye Macye, however when the lock solution is enabled, this will be communicated. Including the Macye Macye prices.

11. For customers who lost their ID’s, will they be able to buy the IKOSRA+ smartphone? 11.  For customers who lost their ID’s, will they be able to buy the IKOSRA+ smartphone?

Yes, customers who lost their ID’s will be allowed to buy the IKOSORA+ smartphone if they have a MTN SIM CARD that is theirs. This can be checked through Z-smart.

In case an IKOSORA phone is stolen, are customers going to be supported to get their stolen phones, this is asked because MTN will be asking for customers ID meaning that it will have all customer details? 12. The customers will have to follow the normal process of recovering their phone by reporting their case to RIB.

Yes, the IKOSRA+ Smartphone can receive WIFI or even be tethered to another device.
