How to activate Mobile Internet on Phones

MTN Internet activation on phones will vary from handset to handset but generally this will fall in settings under the connection option.

Example: For Nokia 6120, Nokia E 71, Nokia E61, Nokia E51, Nokia N73, Nokia N78, Nokia N95 and Nokia E65 the steps are; Tools – Settings – Connection – Access point – Edit Available Access Point, and Change the Access point name to – internet.mtn (Small Caps)

How to Activate Mobile Internet on Modems

1) M 75 SAMBA Modems and HUAWEI E170 Modems.
The steps are: Internet - General Setup - Menu  - Right click on Internet Connections - Connections - Identification - Properties Press Ok. - APN: internet.mtn (Small Caps)

2) HUAWEI E 220 MODEMS and other modems not bought at MTN.
The steps are: Profile - Options - Tools APN: - Select MTN - Profile Name - Edit - Management - internet.mtn (Small Caps) select Static save Access number *99# and set as default.

How to Activate Computer Internet

Visit an MTN Center to purchase a modem, SIM card & to obtain the settings and instructions for entering the settings on your computer.

If you are purchasing MTN Internet for you laptop, be sure to bring it in with you to receive technical assistance.

If you are purchasing MTN Internet for your desktop computer and have issues entering the settings, contact MTN Customer Support at 456 to walk you through the process.

What is the Cost

If you have GPRS/3G bundles, the internet session will be charged from the bundle, or at 30rwf per Mb which will be deducted from your airtime balance.

SMS to 346 are free.

Buy a Bundle

Bundles are similar to buying airtime but they will be used specifically  for internet.

For example if a customer wants to buy a 5MB bundle, they will dial;  *345*5#. This bundle will be deducted from their airtime. Below are the rules for the GPRS bundles.
 

• GPRS/3G bundles are available for pre-paid customers only.
• Pre-paid Customers have the option to use the out of bundle rate which is 30 Rwf per Mb or buy bundles (Table of different bundles below).
• The validity of each bundle is 30 days. This means that if a customer buys a 5MB bundle and they do not use it up within 30 days, it will be deactivated and they will have to buy another bundle or use the out of bundle rate.
• To buy a bundle, a customer must have sufficient airtime.
• Customers will not be able purchase bundles while roaming.
• To check the bundle balance, dial *345#
