MTN RAHURA

MTN RAHURA is a service that allows you to get an advance electricity token and pay back later with your Mobile Money.

How do I Use the Service?

  • Dial *151#
  • Choose MTN Rahura (You will get a menu with the amounts you qualify for)
  • Choose the amount you wish to borrow
  • Enter your cash power Meter number
  • You will receive a message asking you to approve the payment through your MM account
  • Dial *182# - Choose My Account – Approve the transaction
  • You will then receive an SMS with the electricity token
  • The amount borrowed and service charge will be recovered during the next MM account refill

  1. The customer has no outstanding (unpaid) Electricity Advance Amounts.
  1. The customer’s line is not suspended or deactivated under MTN’s prevailing processes.
  2. The customer should be registered on MTN Mobile Money.
  3. The applicable charges are computed as follows: -

Within the grace period, the subscriber can pay back the advance by using the payback option. The total amount to be paid back will be: token amount + 10% service fee

  1. You will be able to make repayment via the manual payback option by dialing the Short code *151# (or via other means advised by MTN from time to time) and selecting the “Pay Back” option from the menu.
  1. Recoveries will be deducted from the Subscriber’s Mobile Money account. The Subscriber’s mobile money account balance MUST be greater than the amount borrowed + service fee.
  1. You may access the service by dialling *151# or via other means advised by MTN from time to time.
  2. You may follow the instruction and enter the desired advance amount and meter number.
  3. You are responsible for providing accurate information on the Electricity Advance request and meter number. MTN will not be liable to make any reimbursement if incorrect information is provided by you.
  4. An Electricity Advance request cannot be cancelled once it is submitted.
  5. You may take as many Electricity Advances as you request for as long as you meet the service eligibility criteria and other minimum conditions prescribed by MTN.
  6. You may qualify for an Electricity advance regardless of the Airtime balance in your account.
  7. The Electricity Token will be used as ordinary Electricity. Usage of the Electricity Token is subject to other prevailing service terms and conditions relating to electricity consumption.
  8. The Electricity Token advance may be recovered in lump sum or instalments until it is recovered in full.
