MTN Rwanda donates sewing machines worth 2.5 million Francs

MTN Rwanda today donated 27 sewing machines to AVVAIS Association of HIV/AIDs infected Widows in Gahanga –Kicukiro District worth 2.5 million Francs. Mary Asiimwe, MTN’s Human Resource General Manager said the donation was a way of giving valuable socio-economic support to the community as part of MTN’s HIV/AIDS awareness week-long campaign.

“With the equipment donated, these women will be able to sustain themselves through income generating projects, eventually going a long way to make their lives a whole lot better. This day is also an opportunity for MTN Rwanda in particular to reflect on the status of the pandemic and to encourage combined efforts for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care for infected Humankind,” she continued. The handover ceremony which was held at the AVVAIS office in Gahanga was officiated by MTN Foundation Chairperson Madam ZulfatMukarubega, Permanent Secretary of JADFat the Kicukiro District Office Higiro Emmanuel and Nyiramanyana Chantal, the Legal Representative at AVVAIS.

“We are very grateful to MTN Rwanda for this contribution. All the widows we work with will now be able to support themselves and expand their services in future and be more competitive,” Nyiramanyana said.
