MTN Rwanda’s mobile money bill payments gaining ground
In what is dubbed another milestone, MTN Rwanda on 14th August announced a partnership with Star Times that will see customers pay for their TV subscription using MTN Mobile Money.
The launch was held at the Star Times head offices in Kimihurura, where officials of both companies declared their dedication to provide the finest services tothe numerous subscribers across Rwanda.
MTN General Manager of MTN Business, Norman Munyampundu, said that MTN continues to lead in innovation and Mobile Money by offering customers a growing bouquet of convenient payment options for a wide range of services.
“Our list of partners using the MTN Mobile money platform continues to grow. Partnering with StarTimes is an indication of our commitment to provide convenient payment solutions to the Rwandan people,” he said.
Star Times offers digital television while provide affordable broadcasting media services to enable all people of Rwanda to have an access to the developmental technology. The digital broadcasting services offered by Star Times are in line with the Rwandan Government’s vision which is aimed at transforming broadcast media from analogue to digital.
“Star Times is happy to partner with MTN to ease the subscription process for clients via Mobile Money,” said Star Times Brand Marketing and Sales Director, Kamanzi Hussein.
This partnership comes just less than 4 months after MTN partnered with Tele10 to enable customers to pay their DStv, Canal+ and GOtv subscriptions through MTN Mobile Money.
This adds to the already existent portfolio of services available through the MTN Mobile Money platform such as buying airtime, paying for television subscriptions, buying goods and services, buying electricity, ATM withdrawal, Bank Account/Mobile money transfersand paying salaries just to mention a few.
“We currently have over 2 million registered Mobile Money users which is a great opportunity for Star Times to leverage and expand their service to these customers,” Munyampundu added.
MTN continues to lead Mobile Money in Rwanda with the volume of Mobile Money transactions totalling over 87,000,000,000Rwf from January to June 2014.
