MTN Rwanda launches Cloud Computing Services
Kigali – MTN Rwanda has introduced Cloud Computing Services that are expected to help businesses minimise costs and improve productivity.
MTN Cloud Services provide business automation tools to enterprises across professional services, micro-finance, health and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sectors.
The new MTN Business Cloud offerings are:
- Cloud Collaboration - for companies to share their documents wherever they are;
- Cloud Backup - to keep documents and other files secure in the event of data corruption, theft or other losses;
- Cloud Customer Management - for companies to access their customer information irrespective of where they are;
- MozyPro - a back-up service for the effective management of files and servers;
- McAfee Anti-virus and email security.
“As the first telecoms operator to offer Cloud Services to businesses in Rwanda, MTN will be providing access to ICT services to businesses while helping them minimize their infrastructure costs. Instead of having separate systems for each section in a company, MTN Cloud Services enables these companies to share a common pool of resources and operate more efficiently,” said MTN Business General Manager, Norman Munyampundu.
As a way of offering customised and simplified solutions to customers, MTN customers can pay for Cloud Services using MTN Mobile Money. They also have the option of using some of the services for free on a 30 to 60-day trial period.
MTN Cloud-based products and services are already offering heightened convenience to customers and helping businesses across other MTN markets to reduce operating and infrastructure expenses. MTN Cloud Services are available in Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Cameroon, Guinea Conakry, Cote d’Ivoire, South Africa and Swaziland.
"MTN’s new vision is to lead in the delivery of bold new digital services and the launch of Cloud Services demonstrates our commitment in realising this vision. MTN Cloud Services will further enhance our offering and increase value for our customers, particularly those in the trade and retail, and professional services sectors,” Munyampundu added.
The use of Cloud Computing comes as a means to consolidate Rwanda’s agenda to be the ICT hub in the region.
