MTN introduces new BlackBerry® service plans for as low as Rwf1,500


New and Affordable BlackBerry® Service Plans Provide More Choice and Flexibility for MTN customers

KIGALI, Rwanda (6th March 2013): MTN Rwanda, the country’s leading operator by market share, today launched two new BlackBerry® service plans that give customers more choices tailored to their needs and pockets.

The BlackBerry® Social and BlackBerry® Complete service plans are designed to suit the different requirements of MTN’s customers, whether it is for instant messaging, social networking, browsing, email or downloading and using apps.

For customers that want to stay connected on social networks, the BlackBerry® Social Plan costs only Rwf5,000 per month or Rwf1,500 per week. It enables MTN customers to easily stay connected on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. Customers also get access to BBM™ (BlackBerry® Messenger), one BlackBerry® Email account (e.g., and Internet access. The plan also allows customers to search, discover, and download mobile apps for their BlackBerry® Smartphone on the BlackBerry App World™ storefront.

The BlackBerry® Complete Plan, at Rwf8,000 per month or Rwf2,500 per week, offers Internet access, email and social connectivity. It includes all the capabilities of the BlackBerry® Social Plan, as well as access to one third party email account (such as Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail® or Gmail™).

Both new BlackBerry® service plans are available for post-paid (monthly) and pay-as-you-go customers, as are the existing BlackBerry® Enterprise Server and BlackBerry® Absolute (formerly BIS) service plans available from MTN Rwanda.

We want our BlackBerry customers to gain the full benefits and experience that a BlackBerry Smartphone offers. Our new service plans will allow them to choose and pay for the options they need in a more affordable manner while allowing them to be in complete control of their monthly costs. The new service plans will also introduce BlackBerry Smartphones and services to a wider segment of new customers,” he added.
